Branch Out Tree Care began in Summerland in 2007 with Chris and Charmaine Deviena Newton, a pickup truck, basic tree equipment, and a commitment to doing the work the right way.
What started as a small family business grew through hard work, word of mouth, and the support of local clients who trusted Branch Out with their trees, plants, and properties. Those early relationships helped shape the company we are today: professional, safety-focused, community-rooted, and still guided by the same family-driven values.

Chris Newton’s path into tree care started with his family’s tree care company in Goleta, where he discovered a lasting love for the work. He enjoys the mix of physical challenge, planning, teamwork, and problem-solving that comes with helping customers care for their trees and landscapes.
As the founder, Chris wanted to build a company focused on what is best for both the homeowner and the trees. He brings a deep understanding of tree structure, and a clear vision for helping each property.
Charmaine Deviena Newton has been part of Branch Out Tree Care from the beginning. As she puts it, she “married an arborist” and has been part of the tree care world ever since.
Charmaine helped shape the company’s identity in one very important way: she came up with the name Branch Out. She enjoys meeting new people and wants every homeowner to feel like part of the family after working with the team.
Sal Sanchez was drawn to tree care because he enjoyed being active, working outdoors, and helping people improve their landscapes. Today, he brings seasoned field knowledge, customer care, and a genuine appreciation for trees to his role.
Sal enjoys helping homeowners understand their trees and how to care for them properly. His goal is for every customer to feel confident they are working with someone who is invested in their trees, their property, and the final result.

Nat Bowdish brings steady experience, practical tree knowledge, and a calm, professional presence to the Branch Out Tree Care team. He enjoys the satisfaction of a job well done, especially when the finished work meets or exceeds the homeowner’s expectations.
When Nat meets with a customer, his goal is simple: he wants them to feel confident that their tree care needs are understood and will be handled properly.
